GIVING

Types of Gifts

Gifts by Check or Money Order
Cash gifts, including donations by check and money order, are the easiest and most direct way to contribute to Whitefield.  Gifts should be made payable to Whitefield Academy and mailed to:

Whitefield Academy
Office of Institutional Advancement
8929 Holmes Rd
Kansas City, MO 64131

Gifts by Credit Card
Whitefield can accept credit card donations through PayPal or by phone at 816-444-3567.

Gifts of Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities (either stocks or mutual funds) can result in additional tax savings for you.  You can deduct the current market value of the securities, up to established IRS limits, and you can avoid capital gains tax that is payable if you sold them.  Click the Donate Button above for more information.

Gifts of Real Estate or Personal Property
Gifts could include homes, commercial buildings, land, vehicles, antiques, collectibles, rare books and other property.  Gifts of this nature can be very helpful to the school while also providing you with substantial benefits.  Your income tax deduction is for the fair market value of the property, as determined by a qualified appraiser, up to established IRS limits.

If the value of your property is more than you wish to give (or deduct) in any given year, you may make a gift of a partial interest.  The school reviews each potential gift of real estate or other property.  Please contact the Office of Institutional Advancement (816) 444-3567 if you are considering such a gift.

Gifts in Honor of or in Memory of an Individual
Whitefield often receives gifts in memory of or to honor an individual. The following information is required to process these types of gifts:

  • Name and address of donor
  • Name of person being honored or memorialized
  • Name and address of person to notify of memorial gifts
  • Purpose of gift

Upon receipt of a gift in memory of or in honor of an individual, Whitefield notifies the next of kin or the person being honored by letter, including the fund description, the name of the person being memorialized or honored and the name and address of the person making the donation.

Gifts by Will or Bequest
Donors may also name Whitefield Academy in their will.  By leaving a fixed dollar amount or a percentage of the residual in your will, you can create a legacy for the benefit of future students.   We strongly suggest that you consult a professional advisor when creating a will.  When including Whitefield in your will, simply include our legal name and address.
